What it's all about?

We give you the one, the only, incredibly amazing, astoundingly stunning planet Earth.

It's all we've ever had, and it's pretty much all we've got left.

Yet research shows that we are using our planet's resources at a faster rate than it can replenish them.

Climate change, deforestation, pollution, you name it. It's all pretty much down to us and our insatiable appetite as a species.

So what do we do then?

How do we go about ensuring that the world we live on can indeed be lived on; within its means, within its capacity to support us. All of us.

Give the world a wake up call

In October 2008 thousands will be descending on Barcelona to attend an event called the World Conservation Congress.

Over 10 days the planet's greatest conservationists, leading government figures, global business leaders and maybe even a few celebrities will put their collective thinking caps on to look at how we can maintain a diverse yet sustainable world.

"Isn't this just another big-wig meeting?" you say.

"Just another one of those shirt and tie all-talk and no action type events?" you ask.

Not if you are there!

Not if all these high-flying types can get a few minutes of your wisdom. Hear a few of your words. See your pictures. Watch your films.

We need to show just how important our planet is to us. How important we find the variety of life that lives on it. The vistas we see. The sites we marvel at. The things we care about.

We need to show the harm we're doing. The good we can do. The help we can give.

We have a blank canvas. You have 5 minutes in front of possibly one of the most influential environmental crowds ever gathered together under one single roof.

It's our chance - your chance - to stand up and speak out.

They are all going to be there. This October in Barcelona. We want you to be there as well.
