World Soil Day is celebrated annually on the 5th of December at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) headquarters in Rome, its regional offices, and through national and local events.
World Soil Day 2019 (#WorldSoilDay) and its campaign “Stop soil erosion, Save our future” is envisaged to raise awareness on the importance of soil in sustaining healthy ecosystems and human well-being. It addresses the increasing challenges in soil management and raises the profile of healthy soil by encouraging governments, organizations, communities and individuals around the world to engage in proactively improving soil health.
