The theme for World Wildlife Day in 2019 is “life below water: for people and planet”.

WWF have produced a series of assets in this pack to help you spread the message on why oceans matter! This content is designed to take our audiences on a journey of awareness to action around the vital importance of our oceans, the danger the oceans and marine wildlife are under due to marine plastic pollution and other threats, and actions they can take to help protect them.

As marine wildlife is hugely impacted by plastics, this year we are calling for individuals to join our campaign to keep plastics out of nature. Plastic is everywhere. From beaches in Indonesia to the remote Arctic, it is silently choking our planet. Most plastic becomes trash after a single use. Plastic has contaminated not only our oceans but also our soils and rivers. It’s even entered our food chain. Every year, people and animals are ingesting more plastic from food and drinking water. Many of us are doing our bit to reduce plastics pollution, but it’s time that governments and businesses took their full responsibility too. We are asking audiences to join our fight and call on our governments to introduce a global legally binding agreement to stop plastics polluting our oceans.

IMPORTANT: Before using the assets in this kit, please read the information booklet on how they may be used.
